Reuben Steele is my 6th Great Grandfather. Much research has been done to establish exactly who Reuben married, without success. It is assumed that he married a Hannah Crockett although no records have been found to establish their marriage or their coming to America together. There is an LDS IGI record, Batch Nummber F518510, Sheet 21, that has Reuben marrying a ? Crockett about 1740 in Scotland. It is known that the Steele family and the Crockett family came to this country leaving either from Scotland or England, and landed in Philadelphia about 1745. It is also assumed that Reuben's family lived with them in the New River Valley area of VIrginia, then Prince Edward County, and finally in the "Forks of the Yadkin" River Basin in present day North Carolina, about 1762. Rueben died at sea about 1773 returning from England.
